Stopping bf at 1y- baby won't drink bottle milk

How do I go about this? I think I've had enough of bf dd.. I bf DS till 15m, and am guilty im considering stopping sooner with dd but its too draining to keep bf dd as well as there's a small age gap between them.also I go back to work in 3 months and will have to do night shifts so we'll need to address the night feeds anyway. She hardly feeds during the day- once at midday some days and once in the evening Pre bedtime. She feeds about 3 times at night. Do I cut it out gradually? Or go cold turkey? I've tried replacing evening feed wih a bottle of cows milk which she'll mess around with but she doesn't actually drink it. Any ideas?

Personally I went cold turkey but with the amount of feeds in question you will end up engorged, so what will probably work better is cutting back one feed at a time.

Offer a bottle or sippy cup of milk or water instead of the breast (get your OH to do it so your boobs aren't near) and if she doesn't take it, too bad, just increase the food-based dairy (my two ate loads of yoghurt). After a few days it should be all sorted. At 12mo the night feeds are about cuddles more than milk, IME!

But you do need a supportive partner prepared to lose some sleep for a few nights!

This is all based on my experience BTW, am not an expert.

Good luck.
