Uncomfortable after ten months of pain free BFing!

My DD is now 10 months old and is EBF. But all of a sudden it has started to hurt. She doesn't appear to be teething at the moment and is not biting me. It almost feels like her suck has got stronger if that makes sense. But it feels horrible and I am really not enjoying feeds at all. She will not take a cup or bottle of milk so I feel very stuck at the moment and just have to endure it really. Just wondered if anyone else had any experience of this.

Could her latch have slipped? Could you be pregnant?! Wink

Thanks for the reply :-)
No chance of pregnancy! Although I did have a five minute panic before I realised that it was impossible!
Her latch may have slipped. She has always had a very shallow latch so never been ideal. Will double check though next time I feed her...
Thanks again.

Hope you get it sorted. I have times with DD where it hurts still. (she's 1) Never sure if it's teething or what!

Teething in our experience causes bouts of pain. I've found with DD1 ans now dd2 that the first teeth to come in are soothed by sucking (so loads of feeding) and then the later teeth are made more painful by sucking so a shallow latch is the consequence.

I fed dd1 until after her second birthday, and dd2 is now almost four months.

Various suggestions for causes of pain after having been pain free on Kellymom here in case it's one that hasn't been mentioned yet. I had some problems with my DS2's latch around 8/9mo. I went back to my local support group who suggested a few things I could try, but were also just reassuring that I was doing the right things - if you have the chance to get to a group, might that be helpful? They could talk to you about the cup/bottle refusal too if you wanted?

DS started hurting me when he'd chipped a tooth (first I realised! Blush). Took about 10 days to smooth down enough not to hurt anymore.

Am now pregnant and BF is painful on one side but not the other Confused
