Distracted baby when breastfeeding

Hi my LO is 4 months and has recently become distracted at the breast. She will pull off after a little while, smile at me, look round only to come straight back on and then repeat. During my letdown, she will concentrate but once it slows down, she loses interest. Sometimes she fusses with wind so I take her off to wind her, for her to cry to go back on but then she loses interest quickly again. I have to offer both sides (used to only feed from one) and I know they become more efficient, but it feels like we're doing lots of little feeds and not any decent ones. Then at night, she seems really hungry and gets overtired but wants to keep nursing and is mega grumpy from tea time until bedtime (is it related?) She's a good sleeper and has always cluster fed at night, but this is more constant. I've just ordered a bfing necklace to see if it helps, especially as she has developed a wandering hand, wanting to grab & play with my clothes.
Any advice? Do you think the horrible night times & distracted feeds are related? (both are a recent thing)
Thanks

I think that's just what feeding a four month old is like TBH. DS did this and DD is doing it now! I used to wait until DS was properly hungry before offering, and tried to find the least interesting place in the world to feed him - like facing a wall, etc.

And don't talk to me about DD's evenings at the moment... she is impossible to get asleep before 9 right now. I think the world is just too interesting!

How funny! I can't get her down before 9 either!

I could have written your post...apart from the bit about sleep, my daughter has decided to wake more now! She's so nosey and interested in everything clearly a genius! but feeds take twice as long and she's still hungry quickly afterwards. What is a breastfeeding necklace?!

I do find that she's more settled to feed if he holds my thumb with her free hand, but then I've lost my free hand!

Just Google necklace.... it's a string of beads for baby to play with. They look lovely and i can see it working. I want a feeding necklace now. :)

Googled sorry

I posted this about my 4 month old last week!! She is exactly the same and is always on the go, even when feeding! Her legs wiggle all the time and rarely seems content during a feed! It's often like she's thinking 'lets do this quick then I'll get on to whatever is next!'

I'm taking it all to be a good thing and the HV said it's an integral part of their development.

This post seems to come up from time to time. They hit 4 months and all of a sudden everything else is more interesting. It is frustrating but does pass. After a while they seem to remember that she is really hunger
