7 weeks, ebf, suddenly refusing a bottle - help!

DD is 7 weeks old. We were really lucky that breastfeeding established quickly and relatively easily and she is ebf, feeding and gaining weight well. She had her first bottle of expressed breast milk at 3 weeks and has since had a bottle of ebm every few nights from DH, taking 2-4oz at a time.

This week I went to the supermarket for about 40 mins, leaving her with DH and a bottle of ebm. When I returned she was really distressed – she had woken up, hungry, but refused to take the bottle. We have tried her with a bottle twice more since, and we have tried switching teats from the slowest ‘newborn’ to the slightly faster ‘slow flow’ teat (we are using Philips Avent Natural bottles and teats), but she is still refusing the bottle.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I am determined to get her back on an occasional bottle so that I can have a break from time to time, but I don’t understand why she is now refusing after having accepted a bottle so easily previously.

I had this at six months - get nuk teats, the hole is at the top of the teat so your baby will not suck the teat, they will need to push the teat up with their tongue - basically mirror breast feeding style of feeding. I found these teats saved my life all those years ago.....

Good luck
