Hi All, hope you can advise? Pg with DC3, expressed a lot with first 2 (5years ago) using Ameda dual pump which I loved. Need a new pump as it was fairly worn out (it was v well used!) and I gave it to a BF counsellor so she could use it in her talks..
Any advice on what to buy this time?? TIA

I have a Medela Swing electric pump and find it's very good. I would recommend it but haven't tried any others for comparison.

depends on your needs. if just occasional pumping medela swing good but don't buy second hand and change tubing regularly as mould can grow in it and can suck milk into the pump unit. ameda lactaline double still good but valves seem to need regular changing to maintain suction. good if back to work but heavy kit to carry around so best if office based! good luck with dc3!

I second the Medela swing. Was awesome. Smile

I use the Philips avent - comfy but I really don't think is gets out as much as I can give. For the money (£89) I would expect more.

I'm using the Medela Swing too, and really like it. I was initially using a Medela mini electric that a friend lent me, but I found it really painful and it didn't get much out (having said that, it was a few years old, so may have needed a new motor or something).

Always liked medela but last one bit the dust and i got the spectra on amazon. Dead quiet and brilliant yield of milk. Excellent price too and converts to a double.

Another vote for medela swing. I've ot had mine for 5 days, but it has been a lifesaver.

FairyTrain · 27/09/2013 13:28

Thanks all! I plan to use it daily (then DH does all the night feeds Wink) I read about the Spectra and wondered if anyone else has used it?

I'd get another Ameda. I have the lactaline and pumped a LOT (I went back to work at 4months and DS stayed on BM only) and it still works great, planning to reuse for this one but if it conked out I'd have no hesitation about just buying another.

I wouldn't get a Medela as they're not closed system and that squicks me out a fair bit.

FairyTrain · 27/09/2013 14:02

Thanks Nom, that's what I was thinking, but wanted to see what the general consensus is...I found it really easy to get spares etc and your right about the closed system, I had presumed they were all like that but obviously not!
