How long should I take to stop breast feeding?

DD is 8 months old and had been having a feed 1st thing, 11am, 3pm and then a bottle of formula. I replaced the 11am feed with formula on Monday and had no engorgement or anything so was going to drop the 3pm today but wondered if that was too fast? Also, am concerned about how to drop the morning feed as my breasts are very full and sore in the mornings. With DS stopping was a disaster, as it happened as an accidental outcome of him having a tummy bug and he was actually pretty upset by it afterwards. I really want to avoid similar mistakes so any advice for a smooth a transition would be welcomed. Thanks.

I've heard suggested dropping one feed a week if you can. Might be worth waiting another few days.
With the morning feed, would she take a small feed from each side to reduce the pressure for as few days before you totally drop the feed?
Or when you drop that feed, maybe hand express until you get a little relief for the first few days?

Thanks for the reply. Will slow down and go for one a week Smile
