How long a feed should last?

Can any one tell me how long should my 6 month old be feeding each time?
It's just last few days my little man has been feeding about 10 mins at a time. Was wondering if this was long enough. He is very nosy! Will he be getting all he needs?

Forgot to say he's just started solids. But only having little tiny bit.

He will be getting all he needs.

They do start looking around all the time as they get older, and faffing about.

It sounds like at least after his 10 minutes he is finished, rather than the old "I want to be near a bare nipple in case I should fancy another go". :o

He's presumably on solids now too?

So his milk intake will drop gradually, naturally.

I know I'm a worrier but some times he only has 7 or 8 mins and then will go a couple of hours between. I've only really started one solid meal a day.

Hi Coppered, my 4.5mo has always been a quick feeder and has got quicker as she's got older. Feeds have gone from 8mins to 5mins to now 3mins. Like yourself I was getting worried (we occasionally get 1min snacks) but have been assured by many BF councillors that this is perfectly normal and that they simply get more and more efficient at sucking your milk out as they get older.
