Mastitis when only doing 2 feeds a day - DS now 16mo

So I have ebf DS and over the months have had mastitis in my left breast twice and narrowly avoided it another 2-3 times. We only do 2 feeds a day now...first thing in the morning and at bedtime. Each feed is about 4mins on each side and I am quite strict on the timing as I am trying to slowly reduce the feeds working towards dropping them totally (although I have mixed feelings about this I think 18mo is a good target finishing point for us and we are ttc no.2 at the moment and don't really want to be bf through pregnancy). I have probably been overdoing it with DIY/decorating for the last week which may have caused a problem but I didn't think I was at risk of mastitis still since I'm doing so few feeds. Tonight my breasts - both of them but mainly the left one - are so sore and the rest of me aches all over. I've had ibruprofen and am keeping my fluids up and resting and trying to avoid it getting worse.

Question is - has anyone else had this happen so late on in breast feeding?
