9 week old fed every 1.5 hrs/no napping. Normal?!!

Hi all
I have a 9 wk old and she is still looking to be fed all the time. I'm lucky if I go 1.5 hrs between feeds before she goes nuts for food. She's taking 3/4 oz at a time and is refusing to nap at all during the day. Is this normal behaviour?!!
Should she be taking a bit more at each feed by now and stretching them out a bit longer?
I honestly don't think I can take it any longer before I lose my sanity. She doesn't even sleep when I go out so can't leave the house for her screaming the place down. She also hates being in a sling..!!

Has she always done this or started recently? It could be a growth spurt if its unusual for her x

She's really done this since about 3 wks and just doesn't seem to be progressing with her feeds at all

Forgot to mention that she's formula fed!

I don't have any experience of formula feeding but is it possible that she's over tired and fussing for food more as result? What happens with her naps? Does she not nap at all? Or cat napping?
My LO is breastfed and wants to feed (comfort feed) a lot more when over tired.

Could it be reflux or silent reflux? Do a search on here about reflux and cows milk protein intolerance ( which tends to manifest from about three weeks old) and see if any of it rings alarm bells.

Thanks, she does have reflux, does this affect sleeping patterns too? She'll fall asleep while feeding around midday but only on my shoulder and for about 10 mins..

Yes massively!! Its the extremely painful heartburn and stomach cramps combined with the actual refluxing that make sleep so elusive... All of which are worsened when lo is lying down. I'd def look into a hypoallergenic formula from your gp and meds that are more use than gaviscon: ranitadine or omeprazole. Babies LIKE sleep they dont sleep this dreadfully without a good reason... In this case pain.

Thanks poppet. I'm taking her for her vaccinations tmrw so will have a word about her meds then. Had two terrible nights with her so fingers crossed I can get something better for her!

She will be massively overtired if she's only sleeping 10 mins all day. How is she in the pram? will she sleep in a moving pram? if she's really overtired it might take 30 mins of screaming walking before she falls asleep but it's worth a try, if it works then do that loads for a few days to get some sleep into her.

also if she's in pain from the reflux she may be wanting to feed often for comfort/soothe the acid burn. what meds is she on?

She doesn't tend to sleep in the pram either, again I'm thinking the reflux might be affecting it...
I've had her napping on my shoulder for 15 mins just now-progress!!!!
I've got an appt with her GP on tue regarding her reflux so fingers crossed I can have her meds re-evaluated. She's on renitadine and gaviscon at the mo..

good luck at the GP! maybe her ranitidine needs upping.

do mention the non napping to the GP - usually gps aren't that bothered about sleep issues, but babies this age are supposed in theory to sleep 4-5 hours in total during the day (on top of 9-10 hrs at night) so your DD's 10/15 mins does clearly suggest something is up and might make the GP pay a bit more attention.
