Weaning onto solids...Is he allergic/intolerant to cow's milk after being EBF?

I've been EBF my DS for 27 weeks now and we gave him some Milupa creamed rice and he got sick 4 times a couple of hours later over the course of an hour and has had a cough/cold since. This happened a week ago. This was his first dairy apart from 3 servings of formula when he was a week old. Today we tried cows milk with Reddybrek for breakfast and he wasn't' keen on it but we put it down to the texture and spurred him on with added banana and he ate it but during the day there has been about 5 medium spitups that still look like banana/reddybrek despite having lunch and BM since...does this suggest an intolerance/allergy to dairy? He's had bananas many times and he doesn't spit them up? Thoughts pllleeeeaaassee?

A common symptom of cow milk is phlegm and cold like coughing. Many people just put up with this. There are many other sources of calcium, so don't panic. He will still be getting calcium from you when you feed him and also foods like broccoli are a fantastic source of calcium that is actually easier for humans to digest than cow milk.

Could be a cows milk intolerance. My dd had different symptoms - hives, eczema and excessive wind - and the only way we could be sure it was due to dairy was to exclude it for a week, symptoms vanished, then reintroduce it and symptoms came back. A cough could be a sign of a serious reaction though, did he have any breathing difficulties? I'd speak to Hv or gp before trying dairy again if it was my baby. Subsequent reactions can be more severe.
