Dd 6.5 mOnths cannot fall asleep without feeding

My dd is 6.5 months and uses me as a dummy basically. Before naps I try and put her to bed awake when she is tired but she screams and screams and when I go in to calm her down she kicks it up a gear and gets hysterical. then I have to go in and feed her to sleep. At night she is pretty much latched on all night and I try and take her off and put her in her cot but she wakes and cries. My duh said he can't co sleep anymore with her and it's ruining our relationship because I'm always tired and very snappy. She is a major bottle refuser and she won't even touch a dummy. I have another dd who is 2 so this really isn't ideal at all. It was different with dd1 because she was formula fed from around 7 months onwards.

Try to remember that good night's sleep will be best for her as well as vital for you and your partner. Then, grit your teeth and prepare to "sleep train" as she is now old enough for this to work well. She will cry at first, perhaps for quite a while, but if you stay strong and stick to your guns, she will learn. If you weaken, you will make it harder on both of you! I sleep trained my daughter at around 6 months and it was awful (with me crying on the landing while she cried in her cot!) but each night was better and within a week, she was going to sleep without crying at all which was MAGIC! Once this happened, she was happier/more settled generally and we were SO much better rested. It was like being new parents! Also, the longer you leave it to sort out her sleeping, the more resistant she will be and the harder it will be all round. Have a look at the Mumsnet section on "sleep training" as this will help encourage you. Good luck!
