Should I be worried?

DS had his 13 day check up yesterday, he weighed 10lb 6oz at birth, in the first week he went down to 10lb 2oz and yesterday he weighed 10lb 4oz.

He is EBF but I am worried that this is not enough weight gain for him, I haven't been discharged as he is not back up to his birth weight yet.

Does this sound okay?

How are things today? Smile

Have you seen your HV yet?

Faith48 · 10/09/2013 22:04

DS isn't latching on and he is still not sleeping for longer than 10 minutes again.

I've seen the HV and she couldn't help me as she couldn't understand what was wrong with him so I have a breastfeeding specialist coming to my home tomorrow to try to help.

I'm so upset :( I just want to be able to breastfeed and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have to stop.

I've been trying to settle him down for sleep for 3 hours now constantly feeding, he cries every time I put him in his moses basket and he is back on the breast :( I'm exhausted :(.

Can totally sympathise. I really don't think there is anything wrong with your supply or that you will have to stop, unless you want to of course.

The Bfing Soecialist who is coming, do you know where she is from? Is she a BFC? Make sure she checks for tongue tie while she's with you and if she is uncertain, get it checked again. Milk matters do a virtual diagnosis service, but think there is a fee, or ring one of the free Bfing Helplines or hire a Lactation Consultant.

Hope all you need is this visit today though. Let us know what she says Smile
