Ho, first time posting but have been reading alot of posts, just wondering can anyone advise, am bf my nearly 6 week old ds, 4th baby but first time bf!! Have started expressing in the last week or so but am not getting any more than 2ozs from right side and less than oz from left, is this normal? How can I increase it? Am finding it very time consuming but I would like hubby to give bottle and get a break but at less then three ozs I can't be very far as it doesn't fill him for too long, thanks in advance

I think this is really normal and doesn't bear any relation to how much milk your baby can get. I found it frustrating and never got more than 2oz a time. Apparently it gets easier the more you persevere though, especially if you express at the same time every day. Expressing with your baby close by, and ideally latched on the other side is supposed to work well too but I struggled with the required coordination!

Tips I found helpful: drink water while expressing, have your baby or a photo of your baby near, put your feet up. Eating oats is meant to help supply too. It's best to express at least an hour after baby has fed off that side.

Experiment with time of day too. For me, first thing in the morning is best for me - one I'd got the knack I'd feed one side and express the other! However I know someone who gets plenty off in the evening after her DD has fallen asleep. So try different times.
