Hi.

Can anyone recommend some places in London that Breast Feeding Friendly?

I know Selfridges have a special area on the 3rd floor with comfortable chairs, and Pret A Manger in Covent Garden have a seated are in the back of the shop (for all customers) that have padded arm chairs and room for the push chair. Any other suggestions?

You know you can feed a baby anywhere, right? (Although font mention swimming pools)

Are you specifically asking about comfy places as opposed to places which would accept you bf?

John Lewis Oxford Street has a lovely little coffee shop off of their nursery section which is always full of mummies breast feeding and having a cake!

I always like an M&S cafe. But do BF anywhere. You don't need permission to nourish your baby.

I was nervous at first but have now become comfortable bf-ing all over London! The important thing for me is whether or not there is a changing table in the bathroom! Pret often don't have toilets, eat do but no changing table. I find museums and galleries very good, if you're central - eg national gallery, wellcome collection, British library. Most have nice cafes.

Of course there is always the royal festival hall at the southbank - comfy seating, loads of space, good facilities and you can stay there for ages without spending loads of money!

In terms of dedicated spaces, Westfield has Parent Rooms with a large changing area, a place to heat food/bottles, a little toddler play area, sofas, and cubicles with chairs and a curtain for people who want some privacy. John Lewis do something similar - I think it's called the Feeding Room, and they have dedicated changing areas too.

However I don't see them in much use. I live in London and the vast majority of bfing that I see in public is in cafes. Near to me, the John Lewis cafe is popular due to being quite large, comfy and 'calm' - ie no loud music, shouting, noisy machines. A local independent is also very popular due to large comfy chairs and sofas, lots of buggy space, and very good coffee!

*in much use for breastfeeding. They're super popular for changing and just having a sit down.
