Day 2 - do you think this is a problem?

Morning all,

DD2 is coming up for 48 hours old and I'm slightly worried about where my colostrum has gone! I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on this and tell me I'm just being neurotic!

Before DD was born I had an abundance of leaking colostrum, same again in the first 36 hours of her life, however my breasts now seem to have stopped leaking and I can't get any colostrum at all when I try to hand express (I hand expressed pre delivery due to get some stores as I had gestational diabetes).

DD is still happy to latch on and had been 'feeding' quite a lot during the last 12 hours - is she getting anything? I assume she is more efficient than i am with hand expressing but i feel like i'm no longer producing colostrum. She has become rather sleepy but is storing every two to three hours for feeds.

Not sure about wet nappies as the last 4 have been full of meconium but I'm going to keep checking.

Does this sound normal? Or has my colostrum dried up?

Not sure if its relevant but she was born by csection and based on past experience with DD1 I am expecting it to take a little longer before my milk comes in

Could it be that your milk has come in and you just can't express (some women can't)

As to the wet nappies, even if there is meconium, you'll be able to tell if its wet, the front of the nappy goes heavy and bulky

I'm sure there will be someone with actual advice along soon

I think it sounds normal. I found the same on my DDs second night.

If there's lots of meconium, that's a good sign. Wet nappies can be hard to tell in disposables, but putting a few cotton wool balls or some tissue in can make it easier to see if she's had a wee.

sounds normal. my boobs seemed really empty the end of the second day but milk was in the following morning

agree a bit of cotton wool in the nappy to see if it gets wet.
