Breast / Bottle confusion?

Just curious - I know babies can get confused swapping between breast and bottle, and I know your milk supply diminishes if its not being drunk. But is it possible to bottle feed EBM for s significant period of time and then put baby bak to the breast, or will she have forgotten how to breast feed?

I regularly do bottles of ebm at night and mum feeds in the day and none of the baboes have had a problem with it.We have typically started this at day 10.

Several have refused the bottle if it was not kept up but haven't had any that refused the breast.

I think it would depend on how old your baby was, and how long you were taking them off the breast for.

I think tiny babies are much more susceptible to nipple confusion.

I'm back at work so she has EBM during the day and me at night which all seems to be going well. Just wondered out of curiosity really if its something they can 'forget' how to do?

I think they'll always take the breast - my DP is 32 and he hasn't forgotten!! Grin

The problem is getting them to take the bottle in addition to breast and if you've mastered that you're cooking with gas! My DS is 6 months and he took a bottle at 10 weeks when I had to go out but we never gave it to him again until he was 23 weeks and he refused point blank - he still does the wee ..........darling!
