friend of mine struggling (baby born on friday) - finding it very painful and concerned she's not "doing it right". i had fantastic support and would love for her to get the same.

Bromley is just near Stratford? Or have I got it confused with Bromley-by-Bow?

If it's the one near Stratford, she should try the BFN, they have lots of consellors around here. The sooner she gets help, the better - she's lucky to have an involved friend.

you're right about getting early help - i suffered in silence for the first couple of weeks - ouch, those cracked and bleeding nipples.... Sad

The NCT has a national helpline number - they can speak on the phone and/or put you intouch with a local one.

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone down there. And the problem is, there are four national breastfeeding groups, and it's hard to know how much cover each one has in any area. I'd try NCT/LLL/ABM/BFN.

Oh, I found a page about Sure Start Penge \link{http://www.bromley.gov.uk/advice/advice/sure_start_penge.htm\here}.

If she calls the ABM 08704017711 her call will be automatically routed to the nearest counsellor to her. They can talk to her over the phone and some do home visits. They will also have info on what support groups may be local to her.
