For those of you who stopped breastfeeding (or plan to) at around 6 months.

How did you then give your baby milk? Had you already been giving milk in a bottle and just upped the amounts? Did you introduce a bottle at 6 months (ish!) and they happily took it? If not...what?!

Thanks!

This doesn't really answer your question?

I intended (when pregnant) to stop BF at 6 months. Then I saw the price of formula, identified the baby detests bottles (will take a bit, under sufferance when I am not around but only a splash to take the edge off her hunger/thirst). So I decided to continue with boob until 1 year when she can go straight to cows milk in a cup.

I also, to be perfectly honest, quite enjoy it - excuse for a sit down/cuppa/cuddle and makes me feel wanted by my increasingly independent 8 month old!

I stopped daytime feeds at 8mo. She hated the bottle, so after failing to get her interested bit by bit, and with nursery looming, I went cold turkey during the day, and filled her up with yogurt, soft cheese and other solids. After about a week she'd got the idea and now takes about 90ml at a time - and night feeds haven't increased.

I wouldn't have wanted to do it at 6mo though as she wasn't eating enough solids then.
