5 week old night feeds

My ebf 5 1/2 week old has suddenly gone 6-7 hours between feeds overnight last night and tonight. She fed like a monster in the day yesterday though (every hour). Plenty of poos and wees and growing fine.

Is this normal? I wondered if she was starting her growth spurt after The days constant feeding but that seems unlikely now! Should I wake her to feed more often overnight?

watching with interest - my DD is the same age and has just slept from 1-5 without waking, whereas we had been feeding every 2 hours through the night.

Bumping, anyone got any advice?

that's what they do - you think you've got figured out and BAM! change.

that yesterday feeding frenzy was a growth spurt - making sure you had enough to supply her next stage :)
and now she's gone back to "normal"

growth spurts don't always last days.

6-7 hours isn't really that long for overnight though, really. and it won't last for ever....

normal. ENJOY WHILE IT LASTS!

Thanks all. I'm really not complaining it just caught me by surprise! Nickel, it feels a lot just at the moment Grin

Mine, also 5weeks, went 5.5 hrs and then 4hrs last night. I'm convinced she only woke up because she farted too hard, too.
Did you spend all night checking she was still breathing, like I did?
Fingers crossed it continues for both of us tonight.

Btw I asked my hv yesterday whether I should be waking dd up every 4 hrs for night feeds and she said at this point no - as long as she's healthy and gaining weight ok.
Hth.

Thanks summer, that's helpful. She's just gone six hours again, now I'm waiting fire get to settle before I go back to sleep, I don't know how long this will last but I'm certainly enjoying it, sleep is underrated!

Argh! We jinxed it! 3hrs all night again. Hope you had a good one Smile

nickelbabe · 23/08/2013 13:21

told ya Grin

DD slept from midnight until 7, but refused to go to sleep before then, running round the house like a thing possessed (not even upset from the tiredness)
Confused

Yes my DD did this. As long as they're gaining weight it's fine. If they get hungry, they tell you! I find DD feeds more in the day than you'd expect for a baby her age but its like she tanks up to see her through the night!
