2 week old baby being properly sick and poo gone green

My two week old baby has started (today) being very sick after a he has breast fed. He is a hungry easter but doesn't tend to feed feeder ofter sounding like he is sticking in air as well as milk each feed takes no more than 20mins. This said until today his Poos have been regular and yellow and he's put on weight.

However today he had stayed being properly sick after feeds - it looks like quite a lot and goes quite a distance! This has just happened again after his 1am feed and I also noticed his poo has gone green.

What can I do to so this and should I worry (and if so how much)?

Hey, it's always so much more worrying at this hour isn't it? Green poo can be a few things, and too much fore milk is one of them.

Have you looked on the Kelly Mom website? The best info there is about bf and babies is there.

Babies can be quite sicky and be fine, but if you are worried I would get him checked for sure. How is he now? Is he asleep?

Thank you so very much for your message. The night does seem to heighten anxiety. After my post he slept until 0330 then feed and was very sick again. We are now up again and his poo is back to yellow however he's still being sick. I'm now off to read the kelly mom website.

At 2 weeks old, their digestive system is really immature, so it could just be that or it could be reflux or something.

If you are worried, take him to the GP. They never ever mind seeing a tiny baby. Honestly.

If you are in England you should have been given a number to call the MWs for 28 days after birth. If he's still being sick, I'd call them before I'd call the GP. At least if the MWs are concerned you'll get seen more quickly and by HCPs who know about newborns

How is he this afternoon london? Any better?

DD1 went through an early phase of what I thought was projectile 'vomiting' (bringing up her milk spectacularly) - and MW suggested winding her before feed as well as after which I found useful.

Please check him out, in case of intussusception (if that is how you spell it). I'm not even sure if the symptoms fit but I'd be concerned enough to get him seen x

Hi Julia you are so kind. midwife said he's gulping as he feeds and trapping air which is making him sick so I'm now winding before half way through and after.

He also has oral thrush which is making him grumpy and fussy feeding. so I have some medicine for him for that which will hopefully sort him out.

Hey, it's all good. It's an old joke, but they really could do with coming with a instruction manual! It's hard to think straight in the early weeks too! Don't be afraid to pester MWs either! Good luck!

Can't remember if this has already been mentioned but if mw thinks it is wind, have you tried the tiger in the tree hold? If you google tiger in the tree youtube a video should come up

How are things now? Has it settled down any? Have you managed to get to a Bfing Support Group?
