Stopped bf a week ago- still producing milk

I decided to stop bf DD when she was one. By that stage I was only feeding in the evening, and occasionally in the morning- the rest of the time she had formula. I last fed her last Thursday evening (8th) and thought it would only take a couple of days for my milk to dry up, but left boob still swollen 8 days later. I'm pretty sure it's not mastitis, as not painful to touch, just big and like it's full of milk. To make things worse, my right boob stopped producing about 3 months ago after DD developed a huge and irreversible left side preference. I carried on feeding one sided, so now I am hugely lop-sided.

How long until I look normal, oh breastfeeding gurus???

A friend had told me it takes up to 3 weeks for milk production to dry up Shock
I've just dropped ds's last feed at 9 1/2 months and have had leaky boobs but no swelling

Wibu to be happy with a bit of swelling as mine just look so empty!

Not sure I'm afraid, but it can take a while when you're very established and I guess feeding from one side has meant that that side has been used to producing more.

I think it can take quite a few weeks to stop entirely, but would think the full and tenderness should pass quite soon.

I could still get milk out up to a year after I stopped BFing (having done it for a year). A mum of a friend if mine insists that she could get milk out SEVEN years later!!

Another friend had the same lop-sided problem after her DS2 had a preference, but they evened up over the few months that followed her stopping. Within six months they were normal again!

Thanks ladies. More disturbingly, having been completely adamant that I was stopping at two children ( to the extent that I cried when my Obs told me she advised against sterilisation) in the last 3 days I am hideously broody. Must be my hormones, right?

I stopped BFing at Christmas. I can still make an ounce if needed....

Ugh. That is not what I need to hear Grin Dd has her one year check tomorrow. I might try to persuade the doctor to give me the drugs that dry you up. I actually leaked today, which hasn't happened since she was 5 mo!!!
