Change in poo pattern

Hello

My 6 month old was a poo-once-a-day baby without fail who's being EBF. About 3 weeks ago, he started pooing just once in 4 days which worried me a bit. I mentioned it to the HV who said his system was changing but I have noticed that he strains when feeding which suggezts constipation? Also, by day 2 of no poo, he begins to fart a lot and it smells and this goes on till he eventually poos on day 4.

Should I be doing more? I give him freshly squeezed orange juice which I think helps bring it out on day 4 and I'm giving a lot of water.

Any advice, please?

Does the poo cause him pain when he passes it? Is it dry, like rabbit pellets, or is it soft? I assume you're weaning which causes the poo to become thicker, more like peanut butter.

If it's painful or dry, or disturbing his sleep, you might want to see your GP for constipation. If it is still soft and he seems ok with it, just keep up the fluids and try to get him to eat more pear, less banana. Maybe a bit of tummy massage to help things move.

Thanks noble but we're not weaning yet. I am breastfeeding exclusively. He is not in pain when he poos and it is like peanut butter but he strains when he's feeding.
