Trapped wind and sma comfort?

Hi all
I have my little refluxer on sma stay down as my HV said I should try to come off the gaviscon due to sodium levels.
It's been working for keeping her milk down, however I'm finding it harder to burp her. I'm using Dr Brown btls which I think is reducing the wind in the first place but I have found that she's been really uncomfortable after her usual 2pm feed. She's been terribly restless every night since she was born and my mum is convinced it's colic..
Just wondering if anyone else has found it hard to burp on stay down or if this is a reflux issue..
Thanks in advance

Sorry just realised I said 'comfort' in the subject, but I meant 'stay down'!!
My brain has stopped functioning....

LIndsay, why do you think she has wind? How do you know if there is more or less wind? Does your doctor think your baby should come off gaviscon? I don't think the sodium in gaviscon actually gets into the baby's system, does it? Maybe your HV can explain more...if gaviscon was working, I don't understand why you would need to stop it.

Hi Tiltok
She has that blue/white ring on her top lip and is pulling her legs up so I assumed that was wind. Although I find it so hard to tell the difference between that and the discomfort from reflux!
She would burp ok on sma gold with gaviscon but I've not been getting any burps at all on the stay down. Starting to think it's keeping the wind under the weight!

Blue colouration = wind is myth....though it's a pretty common idea. How would air in the stomach make upper lip blue???:) Pulling up legs does not equal wind, either. Babies do pull up their legs when they cry, but this does not have to mean wind.

Maybe when she does not burp, it just means she doesn't need to burp.

I would hope to think so. Just got a big burp with the sma gold! Such an achievement!!!
