Reflux baby - infant gaviscon

Has anyone found it causes baby to be a bit constipated? Dd is 7 months and finally been diagnosed with reflux. Today, she was crying whilst pooing, had a little big of blood on the poo (although it wasn't terribly hard), but she really worked to get it out.

She's been on gaviscon since fri.

It's really helped her vomiting, so I'm loathe to stop. Can I give something in addition to combat if it is the gaviscon, or must I go back to daily laundry?

We tinkered with the dose a bit. We gave it by spoon, mixed in a little milk (later water) a few times a day (he fed a lot!) so it was easy to find the balance between effective and excessive.

Speak to your doctor, a change in medication might also be required as Lunatic says.

Oh yes both dc were horribly constipated.

Peptac is an alternative thickener we were prescribed by consultant until she got put on further meds.

Peptac did also constipate her but she only needed to have a break every 7-10 days.

Mine got constipated on it, but only for about a week when first on it and again when we upped the dose. Maybe see if it settles down? And plenty of water, lots of apple in her food helps too.

If she has blood again in her poo you might just want to get her checked out by drs in case she has hurt herself straining
