info about sustaining breastfeeding if you have to be apart for a few days at 10mo?

A friend of mine is going on a 3 day training course when she returns to work in August. She can't take her baby along. Her baby will be 10 months old and she's told me she's sad as it'll mean she has to give up breastfeeding sooner than she'd like.

Can anyone signpost me to guidance to assure her this isn't the case? (She lives in Denmark not the UK so unsure about employment law re equality etc. - I want to direct her to practical guidance about how to keep going).

At 10 months I would have thought you would be fine - it depends how frequently she is feeding but she may need to express to keep herself comfortable. I left my 8mo for a couple of days and he was fine (more so than me!) and resumed feeding where he had left off. I definitely needed to express though and had a medela electric pump.

Definitely do-able, she will just need to express though as she'll probably be uncomfortable after a few hours (for me I could last about 6 hours during the day at that age, though it really depends on how often/much the baby feeds).

I know. I really want to send her a link to some hard evidence/advice though before she starts weaning when she doesn't have to. Can't find anything on the LLL website.

Sorry I wasn't clearer - it's 3 days and nights away.

I'm taking a necessary 3 day trip away in November when my dd will be 10 months old.

I have no intention on giving up breastfeeding, I'm expressing every day (I think she'll need about 25oz per day) and freezing it as my breasts will only part with one or two ounces when pumping.

I'm also getting her used to drinking from a sippy cup as she's never had a bottle.

I'll have to take the pump with me and express to relieve any engorgement but I fully expect to continue BFing when I get back.

Is there any info on Kellymom?
