Hi all
My GP reluctantly prescribed ranitidine for my LO today for her reflux. She looks to be in so much discomfort after each feed. Anyway, if this was going to work (fingers crossed) does anyone know how long it takes to kick in? I forgot to ask my GP...
Thanks in advance.

Takes a couple of days I seem to remember as it slows down acid production in gut.

Main thing is to ensure it is taken regularly at spaced intervals throughout day.

And get dosage revised when weight gained (I got it revised approx every 8 weeks I think!)

Hi. We were told a couple of weeks but saw results before then. It has helped our DD with her reflux. Doesn't bother her now Grin

Thanks both! I REALLY hope this works. I can't stand seeing her squirming and wretching all the time...
My GP was clueless about the dosage and told me to work it out myself!!

7- 14 days - good luck - I remember this all to well. I had a total shocker with reflux with DS. Ranitidine did help with pain - didn't stop vomiting though. He did grow out of it and is now a fit and healthy two year old - hang in there!

Thanks for the reassurance! She's on gaviscon which has helped with the sickness so far, but its the sheer discomfort that gets to me the most. Not helped by the fact I'm a panicky first time mum lol!!!

I was a less panicky second time mum and still found it stressful so don't give yourself a hard time!
