Incompetent newbie mum - reflux?

Gah! I'm useless!! My 10 day old DD just vomited LOADS and then was cough/cry/choke and coughing up slimy bubbly spit and I just had NO IDEA what to do.

I kept trying to wind her and check she wasn't actually choking on something but ended up feeling utterly useless and scared, crying my eyes out. I've never seen her so upset and clearly in pain.
Being a mom is terrifying SadSad

Now I've calmed down and she's sleeping skin on skin on my chest. I'm guessing reflux? Any advice from any mummies who actually know what the fuck they're doing?

It might not be reflux as such, they can sometimes just vomit up like this as a one off. My ds did it a couple of times. There's nothing much you can do beyond clearing it up, and comforting your baby. So you are not an incompetent mum!

Thanks Smile just felt useless cos I got so upset by her distress... She's feeding now and seems ok. Will spend longer winding her after and hope for the best Smile
Thanks
