Breastfeeding making my toes curl!

I'm having a bit of a panic this morning! DS is 10mo and is EBF. I've been absolutely loving the experience, we've been fortunate enough to experience few problems along the way other than a blocked duct or two and I plan to long term feed. DS is teething at the mo and woke hourly last night, taking feeds for comfort - the lack of sleep isn't the issue - it's the toe curling feeling that I had when he was feeding! Not pain exactly but it just felt like my skin was crawling while he was feeding - I just wanted him off me as soon as I could Hmm. It's better this morning but still not quite the snugly, comfortable feeds as usual. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you get over it to continue feeding? Thanks!!!

I get a horrible angry feeling sometimes in the night, I have to shift around huffing and puffing. I find it happened a lot when ds and dd were newborn but then it got better. It's usually when I'm extremely tired. I still get the feeling sometimes. Makes you want to run around screaming, like you've got so much energy you need to burn (must be what my frustrated toddler feels like when we don't go out!).

Thanks ladies - good to hear you guys have been able to continue! Interesting you mention periods as I haven't had one since DS and I think they might be returning (or I'm up the duff again - the symptoms are so similar!) - FX it's better tonight! Smile

I guess it's your period as that's exactly the feelings I get just before mine. I really cannot bare him feeding! It only lasts a day or two though and stops as soon as the bleeding starts. It easier to ignore now that I know what it is though.

sounds like nursing aversion. had it when feeding DS and pregnant with DD. could be hormonal, I'd poas if I were you just in case Shock

Oh yes I'd thought of breastfeeding aversion, can happen in tandem feeding with the older child and also when feeding during pregnancy. I think it's a primal thing. Mummy is aggressive towards older child to wean to make way for new young - obviously I'm not saying you are aggressive just that it is a primal feeling. LLL have some info on their website. If you're not pregnant then I suppose it's a hormonal thing anyway as period and pregnancy hormones are one and the same.

I get it around the time of my period, and it kicked in a month or so before I actually started bleeding, so it might well be that. Tiredness made it a LOT worse.

I've just googled nursing aversion and that's definitely it! Will poas this week just in case!!
