7 month old refusing expressed BM whilst I'm at work

Hi,

I'm not sure whether to panic or not and am hoping you knowledgable ladies can help. I went back to work yesterday and inbetween a feed at 7.30am and when I got home at 6.30pm my (almost) 7 month old DD yesterday only took 2oz and refused milk completely today. She is fine with water from a sippy cup, so my DP tried giving her milk in that today, but she wasn't having any of it.

As background, I have been expressing on an ad hoc basis since she was about 6 weeks, and we've never had any problems with getting her to take the bottle. She would normally take 4-5oz per feed. Because I have been concentrating on building up a stock for the freezer, she hasn't actually had a bottle in a while so I am not sure if this is a natural drop or a reaction to me not being there. She is now on solids 3 times a day, and I know her feeds have been getting shorter since we have been weaning, but she would have had at least 2 feeds during that time if I was home.

So, should we accept that she is dropping those feeds and just feed direct from breast at 4am, 7.30am, 6pm and 10pm? Is this enough?

And/or should I carry on expressing at work to maintain my supply in case she suddenly decides she would like some milk in the day time again? (This isn't going massively well, and I feel like I'm putting a lot of effort into getting milk out which will ultimately end up down the drain).

TIA

was she given previously frozen milk, and was it the right temperature? I'm going back a few years here, dd is 7, but ds2 and dd would only have ebm quite warm, definitely warmer than if from me.... no clue why. ds2 would only drink from breast or cup, never bottle. (these days he is a brew addict Grin )

Thanks for your response.

Yesterday it was previously frozen, but today's was fresh and they were both warmed to the temperature she would normally take it at. So I don't think its that.

hmmm. well that's clear enough then :)
you could be right with the "wtf this is strange" idea then imho.

hope someone comes along with some cleverer suggestions, meanwhile good luck and hang in there!
