Qu about dropping a feed and body adjusting

DS (7 months) was EBF until 6 months and I have now introduced solids which he's wolfing down. He is still EBF other than that. He breastfeeds 5 times a day, about every 3-4 hours in the day with a dream feed at 10pm, then nothing until around 7/8am the next day. He now seems to be slowly weaning himself off the dream feed. For the past couple of weeks he has only taken one breast. I have also gone out for the evening a couple of times in the past week and each time he was given a bottle for his dream feed; both times he took less than an ounce of milk then slept through until his usual 6am and didn't want a feed until 7/8am as normal. He's gaining weight well.

I'm very keen to drop the dream feed and he doesn't seem to want/need it. The only reason I've continued is that I wake up early every morning extremely uncomfortable; the breast he didn't feed from at 10pm is painfully full and the other one is very uncomfortable. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. I know that your body adjusts but it seems quite unlikely that it will adjust easily to 3-4 hourly feeds during the day then a 14 hour break overnight. Am I stuck with this until I completely wean him off the breast?

It will adjust it takes a few days. When I was uncomfortable in early hours I expressed a small amount so I could make it through to morning feeds otherwise I couldn't sleep.

We are at 11.5 months and have a12 hour gap at night and 9 hour gap in the day.
