Baby poo smells like vinegar

I'm feeding my 3 week old mainly with breast milk and topping up occasionally with formula. For the last few days his nappies have been smelling of vinegar, anyone experienced this? Should I be worried? Not having much luck with googleHmm

It's normal for it to smell slightly vinegary. Still yellow, runny and perhaps a bit birdseedy? :)

Yes!

Can be an early sign of reflux... Keep an eye on it.

Thanks for this - just researched reflux and I have been drinking a lot of milk, think ill cut back and see if it makes a difference.

My DD's smelt like this when she had reflux. Is LO sick a lot? (not just a little bit straight after feed) Does their breath smell vinegary too? Is he/she unsettled after a feed?

If yes then I'd pop to the gp and see if they can give you something. If not then its probably just normal newborn poo smell :)

He's not being sick and we get big loud burps quite easily when winding him, I'm going to keep an eye out.
