Hi

Paediatric Consultant said there's no such thing as a posterior tongue tie!

I feel like crying Hmm

OP posts:

Consultant is obviously a useless tosser. Can you go private?

McBaby · 26/07/2013 19:24

Very misinformed consultant. I went to a dozen people before someone recognised my DDs posterior tie!

PseudoBadger · 26/07/2013 19:26

I never got anyone to take ds's seriously :(

readysteady · 26/07/2013 19:27

Ignore consultant see GP and get referred to specialist.

curlew · 26/07/2013 19:29

There wasn't any such thing as any sort of tongue tie when mine were babies.........

SpottyTeacakes · 26/07/2013 19:34

Curlew dp is 27 and has tongue tie. He can hardly poke his tongue out....might ask his mum how long she bf him for Grin

OP I posted on your other thread. I'm pretty sure a private tongue tie snip isn't very expensive can you look into it? I'm sure people on here can help you. I'm sorry the consultant was so shit Sad

readysteady · 26/07/2013 19:50

Curlew! You are kidding right! I am approaching mid 30s and I had a severe one corrected as a baby! I don't think it was Made up! Apparently midwives used to routinely check and snip at birth. It's genetic too thus both my chdren had there severe ties snipped too! Completely missed and denied (even though bloody obvious) by the hospital and my lovely clueless but nice GP took my word for it and referred us! System is rubbish! Maybe time for a new MN campaign?

BuntyCollocks · 26/07/2013 20:29

There's a campaign I've bumped - please go add your voices!

mawbroon · 26/07/2013 22:04

I don't know how old yours are curlew, but my 43yo dh has a tongue tie.

There will be thousands of people out there with undiagnosed ties causing them all sorts of problems, and they are not even likely to realise that they are tongue tied.

This gives general info for all ages

BuntyCollocks · 27/07/2013 00:37

I have issues relating to my untreated tie. God knows how my mother breast fed me, as its quite severe. My main issue just now is clicky/constantly dislocating jaw. V annoying.

NeedlesCuties · 27/07/2013 08:26

I was speaking to a GP who'd never heard of lip tie, yet I've read about it lots on here.

Am shocked at a Consultant never having heard of PTT.

readysteady · 27/07/2013 09:44

Didn't know about the campaign I have bumped too!

SpottyTeacakes · 27/07/2013 09:48

Our GP (specialist in peads) checked for tongue tie (including prosterior) at ds's six week check
