Spitting up or vomiting?

Hi again.
I am bfing my 8 day old dd on demand. She's eating almost constantly, mainly hourly, and she doesn't know when she's full.
We're having real trouble with gas. We're spending ages winding her and it often comes out as a very loud, explosive fart-poo.
Also, three times in the last 24 hrs she's eaten so much that she's projectile vomited milk everywhere. Does this count as spitting up or vomiting, and do I need to be worried?
Poos are normal consistancy other than explosive, although last night dh reckoned she had some diarrhea.

If you're at all worried I'd call the Hv or are the midwives still visiting?

Have called the midwife and she's coming over later. Has anyone any thoughts in the meantime?

Bf babies poo are normally very runny anyway so unless the Hv worried I wouldn't be.
Is baby bringing up a lot of milk - most of feed or less?

Sounds like she's eating lots to get your supply up ready for a growth spurt but can't actually digest what she's eating. It may also be that she's eating more because of the heat. Plus some babies are just more sicky than others. If she's doing lots of nappies and she's well abd thriving and putting on weight I'd relax until the mw gets there as I bet she'll say the same thing.

Well done. Sounds like you're doing really well at bf.

Do you try abd keep her upright for a little while after a feed? Some people find this helps with sicky babies. Maybe try a stretchy sling like a Moby or Kari Me so you get your hands free too.

Keep up the good work

Thank you. I'm not sure she's building up to a growth spurt since she's fed this much since she was born.
My instincts are telling me that she's ok. But will be reassuring to talk to the mw.
God, they really can't prepare you for how hard this all is, can they? Smile
