Bottle fed 5.5 month old refusing milk

My DS is 5.5 months old and has recently started to refuse his milk. He is weaned and eats 2 meals a day (purées) and suddenly doesn't want his bottle. He never takes a full feed anymore and we're currently battling to get him to take his bed time feed (this isn't going well). Has anyone got any suggestions or advice? Could it just be this hot weather?
Thanks in advance! Smile

Don't stress about it. Put more cheese, yoghurt in his diet and ensure you offer him milk first as a drink and plenty of water after. My 2nd ds never wanted milk. After feeling like I force fed every feed I weaned at 5 months and he would barely drink any. He now drinks it fine, 20 months old. He just didn't like want it. I wish I'd accepted that earlier.

like/want didn't mean to sound like a poorly spoken teen, oops.

Thanks! He eventually took it, cold. Perhaps because he's got used to having cold water during the day, he doesn't want warm milk! I'm just worried he won't get enough milk during the day! The heat doesn't help!!

blue the current advice is to offer the milk roughly an hour before the solids until they are one. If he's not taking the recommended amount, the information should be on the carton, then I'd cut down to one meal a day.

Between 6 and 12 months the minimum is 20floz of first stage milk a day.

The 20oz can be part of food though so if you are struggling mixing it in with mash till its very runny, or breakfast cereal used to work for us. Again although 20oz is ideal its not the be all and end all. Our HV said if he wont drink it there's not much you can do. plenty of dairy in the diet is the next best thing. 20oz sounds a lot but once you have some mixed with food it's only 3 good milk feeds or four poor ones ;) i did always use formula in cooking though for him not cows milk to try and get the amount up. hope that helps put your mind at rest.
