Ds2 is 17 weeks. Over the last could of weeks he's finally been sleeping better at night (hurrah!). This has impacted my boobs in that as he's gone longer I've been waking up with ever increasing full, painful boobs. I've have expressed enough to make myself comfortable then gone back to sleep until he's needed feeding. He only wants 1 side per feed so 1 side ends up quite full again before he needs it. Then just to throw into the mix ds has been teething (he has been for ages but things really ramped up the last couple of days with his first tooth breaking through this morning) with him being understandably irritable & subsequently very fussy & faffy to feed. It's also caused a couple of night wakings the last couple of nights where he's wanted feeding & cuddling (& basically Bob on tap last night ;-) ) This left me yesterday evening with a full, quite painful breast. I have tried to feed as much as possible on that side but it still feels really bruised & tender to touch. I've felt bruised before when I've got a bit too full but it's usually cleared by now. I did have a milk blister a week or so ago on the same side but that had all cleared up with no lasting effects.
Any suggestions on what the pain is, what to do about it, how to stop this happening again, how to deal with the full boob issues & any other tips would be much appreciated? !

When I have a blockage (even a small one/missed feed) the pain can stay around for a day or so afterwards, so it could be that. I make sure O can't feel any lumps at all though and just see how it goes. Did you break the blister? It could be that it is still slighlty bloking the milk coming out of the nipple so baby can't drain the breast fully.

It might be that your supply is still adjusting to the changes on the feedong pattern I know it usually takes a couple of days for my supply to adjust during that time I usually just express until I am comfy and take warm baths to releave the discomfort.

I would also check his latch again the teething could have effected this and also stoping him grom being able to drain the breast properly.

Thanks for the response. Definitely broke the blister Thank goodness & no sign it's back. Have checked for any lumps but can't feel anything (sigh of relief) so am hoping it's just from the being full last night & nothing more.
