Periods returning, holiday looming :-(

I have been mix feeding baby for 6 weeks now on advice of paediatrician and last Friday I had my first period since before getting pregnant. I am going on my first holiday abroad for years in a few weeks. Went to docs to get the pill that stops your periods but can't have it as not suitable for use with bf which I am still doing 2/3 times a day.

Please reassure me once periods return they can go back to being like clockwork (meaning that next period due last day of holiday) or that cycles can be really long and I might not have another til beach season is well and truly over.

(And I know realistically that it is a case of cross fingers and hope for the best, just want cheering up!)

Hi Celia. Your doc might be right about the pill as it's hormonal but it's worth checking with the Breastfeeding Network, they have a specialist pharmacist for drugs and bf who can advise.

Are you up for trying a mooncup? I got my period on the first day of my hols this year but barely noticed it with my trusty mooncup Smile

Hope you get a good long gap!

Fingers crossed! Mine came back like clockwork with DS1 but have been all over the place since DS2....

Thanks! I can use a mooncup, it is just the inconvenience of the whole thing. Would appreciate one less thing to think about... (so I am able to focus on the tricky tasks of lazing around/ eating/ drinking/ swimming/ general merriment)
