9mo dropping breastfeeds -is this normal?

My 9mo DS has in the past few weeks dropped his feeds quite dramatically, from feeding every 3-4 or so hours, to just 4 feeds a day. He has a morning feed, an afternoon feed, a before-bed feed and one in the night. If I offer at other times, he doesn't seem too interested.

This has coincided with him eating much better and more. His top two teeth have come though (bottom two came a while ago), and it's as if he suddenly 'got it' with regards to eating solid foods. I presume this is a natural process, I just want some reassurance -does it sound normal? Should I try to make him have more milk? I give him water in sippy cups with his meals, but he doesn't drink much, so I'm worried his fluid intakes have gone down (although his nappies still seem fine -perhaps slightly less heavy than they used to at times).

Sounds ok to me. Have friends whose babies did similar to yours. My mum said I stopped bf when I was 9 months when I got the hang of solids.

I'd like to know this too - it's concerning me in this hot weather! DD nearly 9mo.

We dropped from around 10-12 feeds to 6 at around 8 months - baby eating very well. Now down to 4 at 9.5 months old. It's just what she seems to want to do and I trust her.
