milk supply seems to have dropped in the sun?

The heat seems to have made my milk supply go down a bit.

Is this just me or has anyone else experienced this?

I don't know if it's just not coping with the heat very well and the milk having this problem due to this or if it's the actual heat that affects the milk.

Anyone any ideas?

It will pick up again. Make sure you are drinking lots of water, more than normal in the hot weather.

What makes you think your supply has dropped?

Babies will feed more often in hot weather as they need more fluids, but this is normal and your supply should adjust. Make sure that you drink plenty, it won't affect your milk supply but feeding more frequently in this weather could leave you feeling a bit dehydrated.

What makes you think your supply has gone down? Are you expressing and seen a drop in amount?

Or is it more a 'feeling' it's gone down?

If baby is feeding from you, your body will be making milk.

I express and I breastfeed.

YY baby feeds more often but seems to eat less at a time.

I also am pumping less, not sure why that is.

It's likely that you are dehydrated - drink lots and lots, more than you think you need. I'm bf a 10mo who eats a lot of solids too, but am putting away 2l of water every day, plus herbal teas and occasional juice.

Your baby is likely to be feeding frequently to satisfy thirst, hence the many brief feeds.

The hot weather means that babies are thirsty and are therefore having more short feeds - your milk supply will be fine as long as you keep feeding your baby whenever he / she asks!
