Drying up milk....tips needed!

I have posted about trying to wean ds off bf before, but I am now going cold turkey.

I wondered if anyone has any tips to help? He is 8 mo, my mum and DH are here to help. Ds hasn't had my milk for 30 hours now and is surprisingly chipper. My boobs however, aren't!

Whilst I would have preferred a more gentle weaning approach, it's not going to happen that way, and I am 100 percent sure I want to wean, so here I am looking for tips, similar experiences and support!

I have Savoy cabbage leaves cooking in my bra, I have taken ibuprofen and a suafed. How long will I feel I like my boobs have been replaced with heavy as lead boulders??

I stopped suddenly,iirc I just expressed a tiny amount when I felt too full. Took months before I could stop wearing nipple pads.

Travelin, I do know it's not the best approach, and I am being careful, so thank you for your concern. I also have my mom here, who is wielding her thermometer and keeping a close in on me and ds. Fingers crossed I get through it without any mastitis.

One boob is much heavier and painful than the other, so that's the one I am watching. I wonder how long it will take?

You should really try expressing small amounts, especially from the more painful breast. As long as you're not emptying (not that that's really possible, but yswim), you won't be stimulating your supply. This should also give you a chance to check for and massage any lumps.

I had to stop suddenly as I had to start taking medication that wasn't conducive to breast feeding. I just used to express a tiny amount when my boobs got sore. It took less than a week for me to stop leaking but I was still able to express tiny amounts 6 months later! Well done for getting to 8 months, that is really great!

I think the hardest part of bf is stopping! 8 months is a good go, it's a shame I can't do any longer, but I am soooo ready to stop.
