Exclusively expressing breast milk to feed my 5 day old DS. One side is producing way more than the other, any tips to help the weaker boob catch up?

Haven't got any tips sorry. Are you getting any RL help with expressing for your newborn?

Congratulations too Thanks

RL = real life. You could try one of the telephone support lines if there isn't any local support? Are you double pumping or doing each side one at a time?

drawohamme · 12/07/2013 13:56

Ah I see! I'm doing one at a time at the moment but I've a double pump arriving any minute. Lots of RL help for the actual feeding bit but not so much with increasing production Hmm

The feeding/pumping will increase the production.
Are you pumping at least once in the night?

I can always express more one side than the other, but its never really caused too many problems

That's good you're getting a double pump (though hope the help with feeding soon helps). I mentioned the telephone support lines before, but forgot to give you any of the numbers. Various of them are listed in the blue box at the end of this page. I have found them really useful in the past and certainly recommend them for talking things through or getting more information.

Thanks all! Double pump arrived and I'm now pumping every three hours. Found a hot shower and a cuddle makes a bit of a difference.

I have always had one side which produces way more milk than the other still seems to at 11 months. Pumping is not nessersarily an indication of supply though so it could be that one side does not respond to the pump as well.

Hot showers, massage, make sure y

McBaby · 13/07/2013 07:14

Sorry

Make sure you eat and drink regularly esp in this hot weather.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 13/07/2013 20:40

While eating and drinking lots will help to keep you healthy and feeling well, its unlikely to have any affect in your supply. Glad the new pump and shower and cuddles are helping.

Just wondered if you've come across kellymom yet? There is a great article on expressing hereSmile
