My little chap was weighted today and he's dropped a centile. He's 16weeks old and only put 9 oz on in 4 weeks. He went from 13.lb to 13.9lb. Should I be worried? He looks a little chubby man to me and my hv wasn't to worried.

Forgot to say he's a breastfed baby.

If 2 centile lines are crossed it might need looking into. Dropping down one is OK provided he's well in himself.

Yea he's really bright and gives a lot of smiles.

My little chap keeps falling asleep on the breast and because he's dropped a centile I think this could be the reason. Has anyone got any tips for keeping him awake, it's so hard to do Hmm.

If he is hitting milestones shouldn't be too bad.

My daughter was born on the 50th - but in hindsight i think that was because I had Gestational Diabetes and was on IV fluids before the birth and that inflated her weight.

She then fell to the 9th by 10 weeks - she was putting on weight but 'not enough'

I resisted when they told me to supplement as she looked happy and hitting milestones and all that.

Since 10 weeks - she is now 17 months - she has followed the 9th centile line as if it was written for her!

She was finding her line and now folows it happily...

I would say feed, feed and feed again as that will help improve supply and always offer both breasts at each feed... if the wet and dirty nappies are normal and the baby is alert and reaching milestones you should be fine.

If you can go to a local breastfeeding support group and ask them to check the latch and so on...

Also my daughter liked when I blew on her face and tickled her feet, it helped keep her awake

Thank you for reply. I was shocked he'd dropped a centile because he looked really chubby to me. He's really happy and active.
