My let down has gone crazy suddenly

I'm ebf my 4mo DD. My let downs always been a bit forcefull, spraying a little bit. But never very much or very far. But these last dew days it has gone absolutly huge, I'm talking spraying over a meter in 3 different directions!! It lasts about ten seconds too, which doesn't sound alot but it really is when you're searching frantically for a muzzie, costing everything in your path with milk.

I haven't had anything like this, not even back when I had oversupply before we got bf established. Plus they;re gettign leaky all of a sudden too. Has anyone else has this sort of thing suddenly start up? DD had a growth spurt last week, is that related?

I'm really at a loss as to why it's all suddenly changed, it's making it so I don't want to feed in public anymore either it's just so embarasing. I feel really guilty for poor DD too, she must feel like she's drowning.

Supply can be odd - it sounds like yours has somehow ended up too high. Might be related to the growth spurt?

Does your DD have both sides, normally? Or only just one? It might be worthwhile switching to only offering one side per feed, and if you're already doing that, then considering block feeding - kellymom has a good page on it.

we're on one side a feed. I've read a little on block feeding, that's deffinatly worth a read! I never really thought my supply would suddenly just change, at least it's too much.

It is odd, having it suddenly get much stronger like that. You haven't started taking any new medication or anything?

It sound daft but it might be the warm weather. Your body may have made extra because of the heat and knowing that your dd will likely feed more in the hot weather.

I used to get very forceful let downs so I feel your pain and embarrassment. It was always a good thing to spray if some people were being shitty about feeding in public Grin I used to have those muslin cloths with me all the time and would catch them as soon as dd popped off.
