Help! 7 month old refusing breastfeeds during the day!

Hi, i need some advice please!
My 7 month old has always loved his milk and ive never had any problems feeding him but since he's been on 3 meals a day he has gradually stopped breastfeeding in the the day. At first he dropped his 7am feed as he would rather his porridge but then had a feed at roughly 9am, 12ish, 3pm, 5pm, 8pm then twice in the night.

However for the last week he has been refusing any milk during the day and only feeding when he has got himself overtired (also started fighting sleep!) so yesterday only had 2 bf at 9am and 7pm. Although he took 2oz of milk from a bottle at 2pm.

I know this is not enough milk and to compensate he has been waking up through the night wanting feeds at 11.30pm, 2am, 4am and then 6am.

He has taken to solids really well and loves his water so i know he isnt dehydrated. Am i doing something wrong or just a phase or is he self weaning?

Sounds like a mild nursing strike. It's normal for this age.

I'd try taking him upstairs, closing the curtains and lying on the bed with him for daytime feeds. Sometimes there's just too much to distract them. I'd offer milk before food too, as he's still only little and should be having more milk than food.

If that doesn't help, try spending the day in bed both of you topless, lots of skin to skin snuggles and offer the breast as often as possible.

As far as I know it is really uncommon for babies to self wean under 12 months so imagine it's a phase. Def

Could it be teething/novelty of real food/being too distracted in the day?

Don't know where the rogue def came from! Riots' ideas sound good.

Yea riots i think he is distracted so started trying to feed him in his dark, quiet room but he just got angry an screamed at me. I know he isnt ready to wean completely as he is making up for it at night. Unfortunately he is too alert and active to spend the day in bed/on sofa! (I wish!!) i think that he is just so nosey that he doesnt want to stop to feed let alone sleep!

I know milk still makes up the bulk of his nutrition but roughly how many feeds should he still be having during the day?

I don't think it's how many feeds, because some get more from each feed than others. I think it's something like 30 oz at this age and milk is supposed to make up about 90-95% of their daily intake, moving to 50% by the time they are one.

Maybe try having baths with him to get skin to skin and trying to feed then, or just after? You could express and offer him it in a sippy cup or add it to his morning porridge/mashed potato etc. to make sure he's getting enough in the day? (Breast milk ice lollies since it's summer?)
