When to ditch the bottles?

DD is 15 months and having a bottle before bed, and usually one during the night (not ideal but the only way to get her to sleep through for a reasonable period without an hour of screaming. I've made my peace with it...)

The bottles themselves are getting a bit worn and manky, and I was just about to replace them when I thought this might be a good moment to ditch them. She uses a sippy cup most of the day for water, and can also drink from an open beaker if I hold it.

Is there an ideal time to drop the bottle entirely? My only concern is that the bottle is part of her pre-bed routine and she'll take 250ml of milk snuggled up from the bottle, but sips much more sporadically from her sippy cup. I'm a bit concerned that she'll end up not drinking much before bed so wake even earlier/more often, and that she'll refuse the cup in the night (if we offer her a beaker of water in the night she gets REALLY annoyed until the bottle comes).

All thoughts and experiences gratefully received! I'm not all that keen on the bottle because of the effect on her teeth, but I don't want to bring a world of pain if I'm attempting this too soon....

If they are worn and scratched I'd get a couple of new ones. Think that bacteria can grow in the scratches and if you are using formula it has some pretty nasty bacteria in it.

Thanks jilted, I know that hence I was going to replace them.

My question was is this a good age to stop using baby bottles and move on to just sippy cups. I have no idea when I 'should' be dropping them. Any advice?

Think you are supposed to drop them at 12 months old. We still use them at 19 m

19 mo for our twins, as the thought of trying to get two babies to drink 250ml from beakers without pouring it all over themselves is not that appealing to me! As long as you clean teeth after last bottle I think it's probably ok to continue for a few more months. Or you could try the soft spout non-spill cups?

its meant to be a year due to teeth development I think. we put our dd to bed with one of the non spill bottles that tommy tippee do that way she helps herself whenever she wants through out without soaking the bed

As long as you clean their teeth and dont let them walk around sucking on a bottle all day the one or two bottkes just for milk is fine.

Two of mine bfed till three yrs old. Ds4 had a bottle before bed till three and a half. Dd is two and a half and still has 5oz in a bottle before bed, its part of her routine and a comfort to her, she will give it up when she is ready.

I would buy new bottles and not worry.

Tkmaxx ofyen have them cheap.

winter does she have milk or just water in the bottle overnight?
