Preparing for second - do I need a new pump?

Had my first 2 years ago and I bought a Medela Freestyle before birth. I started using it in the first week when I was told to supplement because of more than 10% drop in birth weight. Stopped when her weight picked up and restarted again to train her on bottles and then when I went back to work at 6 months, continued up to 12 months when I stopped.

I've read stories about the motor of the pump wearing down and being not as efficient after a while, and also because it's been a while since I used my old pump, I don't know if I should get a new one? Also am looking at the closed system pumps as there doesn't seem to be a clear answer as to whether Freestyle is a closed system or not.

Should I wait until my baby is born, or should I not bother? Anyone has any experience to this?

Thanks in advance!

How much mat leave are you expecting to take this time? I took the full 12 months and never took my pump out the box. If you've got your old pump for emergencies, I'd be tempted to wait and see if you actually need a pump.

At the moment it's planned for 7 months but might extend to 9. Would be great to do 12 months but it's not financially feasible... might wait and see when the baby comes along then! Just a bit worried as it has been sitting in storage for a while.
