Hormonal and breastfeeding

I am still breastfeeding my 8 mth old , down to 3 breastfeeds and 2 formula. No nite feeds sleeps for 11 hours. My period has come back since May. I used to have really bad pmt prior to getting pregnant. I got my period yesterday and its like my hormones went crazy...really irritable, weepy and very snappy with dh. Could this be a combination of breastfeeding hormones and time of the month? Has this happened to amyoe else? Any ways to manage this? Tia..

I think it this is normal and is the reduction in breastfeeding hormones plus the pmt ones. Horrible. Lots lf my friends said they felt irritable and depressed when they gave up breastfeeding.

I don't have my periods back yet but am dreading the return of pmt! I think B vitamins, especially B6 are supposed to help.

Thanks gunpowder. I was afraid to take anything like evening primrose oil in case it deceases supply..i am taking pregnacare breastfeeding vitamins. Its awful , my dh thinks I am losing the plot.

Sorry for all my typos. Clearly too early!

Kellymom seems to think evening primrose is fine, even beneficial, so possibly worth a try if it's worked for you before.

DH is resigned to my irrational hormonal rages now. I was AWFUL, AWFUL when pregnant. Blush
