Hi I'm currently living in a hospital and expressing everything as my baby is in Intensive Care. I'm having some logistical issues with accommodation and breast pumps so I'd like to get to grips with hand expressing to make life easier.

My supply is well established and I've been pumping well but just had an attempt and ended up sweaty and frustrated just to get one drop. what's the tricks please?

Congratulations on your DD! I hope she is out of intensive care soon. For hand expressing I found these instructions from the BFN useful. I also found it easiest initially to practice in the bath or shower although didn't collect milk I expressed there. I think it might be something where different things work for different people so hopefully others will soon be along with some other ideas.
