Tender area under armpit

13 day old DD, had cracked nipples for a couple of days in the first week but other than that, so far so good. However, underneath my left armpit has become very tender to touch or pressure, almost as though it's bruised. Last night I felt a bit fluey and achey and cold, but this may have been due to me doing to much yesterday and tiredness. I initially thought maybe my bra was too tight, but surely I would have similar discomfort in the other armpit? I breastfed my older DD without any problems so have nothing to compare with and I was wondering if you always find a lump with mastitis or if this could be just general early days discomfort?

Could be mastitis I get a tender area and flu symptoms and sometimes a lump appears or it can be deep in breast tissue so you can't feel it.

Do you have any redness? I would go to GP sooner rather than later.

Sounds like mastitis or a blocked duct. I had a blocked duct and bf counsellor advised me to keep feeding on that side and massage the sore area towards the nipple during feeds to try to clear it. Also she said take ibuprofen which would reduce swelling and enable it to clear quicker. But go to GP and get it looked at - mastitis is horrible apparently, but I found a blocked duct bad enough. I also felt cold and fluey.

Self help should clear a blocked duct in a few days, mastitis needs antibiotics. Hope it gets better soon OP.
