Hi dc3 was born at midday yesterday, fed straight after for 10 mins, then again at 4,30 for 25 mins and at 7,30 for 20 mins.

I have not been able to get her to feed since, just falls back to sleep when I offer her breast. Should I be worried?

My DD slept through most of her first night without much feeding. I had pethidine and I think it made her very sleepy. She more than made up for it on night 2, when she was insatiable and furious.

Are you still in hospital? Can you talk to a MW and get her to check your baby over?

I would phone maternity ward for advice just to be on the safe side. Think they should really have a little feed every three hours ideally. All three of mine did this. One was just lazy but for the other two it was the symptom of a problem. Follow your instincts.

A bit late now I expect, but mine did almost exactly the same - slept for 8 hrs straight the day she was born (she was born at 1am, so later on that afternoon). I let her sleep, she was fine, made up for it later!

DS was born on sunday am and bf was initially a struggle for me, combined with very sleepy DS! he only had two small feeds for the first 12 hours i think (bit delirious) - he is making up for it now!!
