My ten month old DS has started to refuse food from a spoon in the last week, things he previously ate happily, even yogurt are now refused. He purses his lips and turns head away. He ll eats some finger foods, especially grated cheese but not really getting volume and so has started upping night feeds and just wants to feed all night :-( I would really like to stop bf now but he won't take formula from bottle or cup. Am at my wits end and v miserable. Any advice please!!

Could this be the dreaded 9 month sleep regression? Have you tried offering an extra one or two feeds in the day?

Can you try giving him his meals as finger food to eat?
Or let him hold the spoon to feed himself once you 'load' it?

Thanks JIltedJohnsJulie that's interesting, I hadn't heard of 9 month sleep regression but that makes sense as he just started crawling and pulling up. my DD was always such a bad sleeper I don't think we noticed it with her!!
hopAndSplash am trying finger food but the range of what he ll actually eat (rather than pick up and squash!) is still quite limited and he just waves the spoon about but I guess well just have to persevere :-(

My DD is 9 months, and only just started eating anything. She has about 2-3 baby spoons of puree for tea, about a mouthful if that of porridge/pancake/egg for breakfast and a few small tastes throughout the day, though she will taste a lot of things just not swallow.

I have been to the doctors twice about it and both have said not to worry, and that before 1 they only need milk, that food is for them to get used to rather than essential, so I wouldn't worry. Im sure he's just having a funny stage. x
